Hi Everyone,
Highlights of Our Day:
- Our eye opener today was math. We worked on addition and skip counting
- In social studies today we worked on using our map and compass rose to answer questions about Canada
- In math today we continued to work on place value. We started by finishing our place value flip chart. To finish our chart we added an example of each form to our chart. We did standard form, expanded form written form, chart form and base ten blocks. We then did a place value worksheet where we practiced identifying the value and place of numbers.
- In PE we continued to work on our running skills
- For art today we used watercolour paints to create backgrounds for our "All About Me". We discussed warm and cool colours and how the amount of water you use can either make your colour brighter or lighter. We will be taking the rough copies of our poems and doing our good copies on this background once it is dry. The pictures below show the background we created.
- We continued our read aloud of "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing". Today we read Chapter 9. We only have one more chapter left!
Reminders:
- Meet the Teacher Conferences are next week on Thursday September 24th from 3pm-7pm and Friday September 25th from 8:15am-12:00pm. Booking for conferences is now open. These meetings will look different this year, they will not be in person but over the phone or virtually. I will send out more information on this once we have confirmed how conferences will work this year
- Last week a package was sent home with students with demographic forms, health forms and consent forms. Please fill in, sign and return to school as soon as possible. Please make sure to look closely at all the forms to make sure you have signed all pages needed. Please sign and return forms no later than Friday September 18th.
- If you are picking up your child after school, please make sure they know where their meeting spot is. Also, please. review with them that if they wait for a while and you are not there that they should walk to the front of the school
- Our meeting spot each morning is on the soccer field
- Please send a water bottle, the water fountains are unavailable at this time
- Please make sure your child has a pair of indoor shoes, to be left at school, and outdoor shoes.
- Please label your child's masks and personal items, such as water bottles and lunch kits
