Hi Everyone,
Wow! We made it through our first full week of the school year! :)
Highlights of Our Day:
- We worked on our cursive writing today in eye opener. We practiced writing the word "Alberta"
- In literacy today we did a review and reflection on our read aloud of "Tales of Fourth Grade Nothing"
- In math we worked on writing numbers using base ten blocks and played race to 500
- We then had time for Finish Up Friday. We worked on finishing our symbols of Alberta page, the good copy of our "All About Me" poem, our mask art and any other work from this week we needed to finish up. Check out the pictures below to see some of our finished work
Reminders:
- On Monday we will have some changes to our lunch and recess therefore we are working towards having a morning snack around 10:15am. Often students are hungry before this so I am encouraging them to eat a big breakfast or maybe have a quick snack around 8:00am right before school begins. Next week our eating time will be 12:20pm as it is 11:55am right now. This will give each group the same amount of time outside and space between groups coming in and out to help avoid passing other groups
- Other changes that will occur on Monday will be soft entry in the morning as students arrive at school. Students will be able to go into their classroom (thought their designated doors) when they arrive and teachers will be in the room. We are hoping this will alleviate some congestion and allow us to get our day started without waiting in so many lines.
- Students were sent home today with a package of information. This package included their usernames and passwords for both Math Prodigy and Raz-Kids. It also included information on how Scholastic Book orders will work this year. Please find a safe space for this username and passwords so that students can access this online tools at home
- Meet the Teacher Conferences are next week on Thursday September 24th from 3pm-7pm and Friday September 25th from 8:15am-12:00pm. Booking for conferences are now open. These meetings will look different this year, they will not be in person but over the phone or virtually. I will send out more information on this once we have confirmed how conferences will work this year
