Hi Everyone,
It was another great day in Grade 4!
Highlights of Our Day:
- For our eye opener today we practiced 2 digit by 2 digit addition
- In literacy today we answered questions on Chapters 3 and 4 of our read aloud "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing". We also were given time to finish our letters from yesterday to Peter or Fudge and did a round of scrabble. The mystery word was "autumn".
- In math today we discussed place value. We talked about how place means "the location of a digit in a number" and value is "how much the digit is worth". We went through examples together, such as 325. The number is 325, the digits are 3,2 and 5. The place of the 3 is hundreds and the value of the digit is 300. We did a few other examples together. We also created our own flip up place value chart to help us remember the number of digits in each place. We noticed that there is an increasing pattern in place value, you add a zero each time you move up a place value. Check out the pictures below
- We were outside again for PE today! We continued to work on running. We also played would you rather and rock paper scissors. We had to use our bodies to show rock, paper or scissors.
- In social studies we worked on finishing our maps of Canada by adding the water that surrounds our country
